On behalf of the International Committee, it is our pleasure to invite you
to the 8th Conference on Recrystallization and Grain Growth, which will take place simultaneously in
Chongqing, China, and Copenhagen, Denmark, during 15-19th May 2023. The conference will be held in a
two-site mode, considering the uncertainties and travel difficulties related to the pandemic.
Chongqing will host the main site as originally planned, and a second site will be set up in
Copenhagen in parallel for participants who have difficulties traveling to Chongqing.
The organizers have made every effort to ensure an in-person conference and
enable the pre-pandemic standard of interactions and communication. The current two-site format is
believed to be the best compromise under these special circumstances. The conference will take place
simultaneously in Chongqing and Copenhagen, i.e., 14:30-22:30 in Chongqing and 8:30-16:30 in
Copenhagen. The program will be fully integrated between the two conference sites, namely, each
conference site will run fully joint sessions, with presentations on-site or remote from the other
site mixed within each session. When a presentation is delivered on-site in Chongqing, it will be
broadcast simultaneously in the corresponding session in Copenhagen, and vice versa. The Q&A
discussions after each presentation will be open to both the local audience and the remote audience
in the parallel session at the other site. For the poster sessions at each site remote participation
will be enabled as well.
The Recrystallization and Grain Growth Conference is held every three years
and it continues a tradition of conferences that started in the 1990s, with the first joint
Recrystallization and Grain Growth Conference being held at the RWTH in Aachen in 2001. Due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, the 8th Rex & GG conference was postponed in 2022 and will now be held in
2023.
Topics
The conference will include keynote and invited lectures, contributed
presentations, as well as posters. The conference will focus on the latest progress in recovery,
recrystallization and grain growth research on non-ferrous metals, steels, superalloys, ceramics,
composites, minerals, and unconventional materials.
The
technical program will include topics on:
• Fundamental
mechanisms of recovery, recrystallization, and grain growth
• Effects of
deformation microstructure
• Grain boundary
structure, energy, mobility, and migration
• Dynamic recovery,
recrystallization and grain growth
• Recovery,
recrystallization, and grain growth in confined systems (e.g., thin films)
• Annealing
phenomena in additive manufacturing and post-processing treatments
• Industrial online
monitoring of recrystallization and grain growth
• Relevant advanced
characterization techniques, including 3D and in-situ methods
• Modeling and
simulation of recovery, recrystallization, and grain growth
• Applications of
artificial intelligence to recrystallization and grain growth
